When we have activities such as rice planting, both the Japanese teacher and English teacher run the session together and both communicate with the students in English and Japanese simultaneously. It is interesting to note that the students feel completely comfortable switching between two languages, very naturally. This is also a time where we can observe how our students will perform outside the classroom as bilingual kids. By the time they are in the Nen-cho class, they usually have a lot of confidence in communicating using two languages.
